If you are looking for a small village to check out while in Gloucestershire, England, then perhaps you should stop by and check out Birdlip which is situated along the Cotswold Way. From the small village of Birdlip there are many things to see including a fantastic view of the surrounding terrain which includes the cities of Birmingham and Gloucester.
However, perhaps Birdlip is best known for some of the finest pre-Roman bronze art which can be dated back to 50AD and includes the famous Birdlip Mirror. Since the building of the A417 turnpike, Birdlip is now far off the beaten path and almost forgotten to all except for the 150 residents who call this sleepy little village home.
Of all the reasons to check out Birdlip, the best has got to be for the history surrounding Birdlip which dates back to the turning of BC to AD in which a great number of fine artefacts from the pre-Roman era were found in the area including art, jewellery and more that relate to the British Celtic heritage in the region.
So for some fantastic history which can only be found in the Cotswolds, stop by and check out Birdlip, sure it is a bit off the beaten path, but sometimes the best places are not always the easiest to find. Furthermore, if you want some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the Gloucestershire Vale, there is one and only one place to go and that is the sleepy little town of Birdlip.
